2022 AMSOIL Championship Off-Road Season Launches New Race Format at Season Opener in Antigo, WI

May 13, 2022

Albertville, Minn. – The opening round of the 2022 Championship Off-Road season starts in just three weeks with the Antigo Lions Roaring Raceway in Antigo, Wis. June 4-5.  Starting its third year of short course off road racing, Championship Off-Road racing has continued to see growth each season in coverages, spectators, sponsors, and racers.  The growing series boasts the best short course racers and largest fields in the sports’ recent history combining both the best of the west coast and mid-west racers.

Another first for Championship Off-Road will be the debut of the Yokohama Duel of Champions, driven by Vision Wheel on Friday, June 3rd at Antigo. This first time ever in off road short course, head-to-head races in a bracket-style competition will take place on Friday evening.  The concept is simple, the top 16 PRO2 drivers will go head-to-head for three laps with the winner moving on and loser back to the pits.

“This format has worked so successfully in other forms of racing” said series President Carl Schubitzke, “and with the returning talent pool and deep roster of PRO2 drivers, we believe the spectators, fans, and partners are in for a real treat.  The format will keep fans on the edge of their seat. Each race will be quick, but they are full of action because if you lose, your night is done and someone else is going home with a share of the $10,000 prize fund.”

“Yokohama in its second-year partnership with Championship Off-Road was instrumental in helping us pull this new style racing event together,” said Frank DeAngelo Series Director “and before long Vision Wheel was stepping up along with local Antigo track sponsor Bug Tussel that provides high speed internet for Rural Wisconsin and Beyond”.

Details of the Yokohama Duel of Champions, including registration and final formatting will be sent to competitors prior to the event. The Duel will also kick-start Championship Off-Road’s livestream coverage on FloSports, the series new exclusive streaming partner. The entire season will air live on FloRacing with additional coverage of all 12 rounds airing on CBS Sports Network at a later date. To subscribe to FloRacing, click here.

The Championship Off-Road series starts in Antigo, Wisconsin on June 4-5 with two rounds of racing and continues through out the summer ending at the Big House in Crandon, Wisconsin on Labor Day weekend.  Each race weekend features PRO Truck classes, various sportsman classes including open-wheel buggies and both sportsman and PRO side-by-side classes.
