xcitement is filling the air as the 2024 AMSOIL Championship Off-Road season is just around the corner, but the series is already making big plans for the 2025 campaign. While the updated plans will slightly alter this season’s schedule for the final rounds planned for September in South Dakota, the end result will be bigger and better things down the road for the series as a whole.
In December, Champ Off-Road released its 2024 schedule to include a new off-road venue near Deadwood, South Dakota. At the time, the stars were aligning to have everything ready in time for September. After further review, everyone involved agrees the Deadwood region has a lot more to offer the off-road racing community with proper planning.
As Champ Off-Road looks to keep expanding, Black Hills event organizers are working around the clock to bring racers and fans a venue that matches the high standards of the off-road tracks currently tied to the series. We are all working together with the goal of making it an even bigger off-road racing event than we initially thought would be possible.
As a result, the series, venue, and regional officials are coming up with a new vision for hosting the action-packed weekend in 2025 rather than forcing its debut for the 2024 season. Both series and local officials are determined to make this a memorable event that is electrifying, tenable, and something everybody can look forward to attending for years to come.
Although it was a difficult decision to make, we want to make sure the event is a rewarding experience for everyone in attendance rather than putting a watered-down weekend together just for the sake of staying on schedule. The state, city, and investors need additional time to construct and build a first class short-course off-road racing facility,
Over the past few weeks, organizers have been working with local officials to develop the facility plans and coordinate event details in an effort to host a world-class off-road race. To accomplish that goal, series and event officials have agreed to capitalize on the track’s massive potential by pushing the original 2024 debut date back to a 2025 showcase.
“Deadwood has proven to be an extremely supportive region for racing,” said Champ Off-Road President, Carl Schubitzke. “The city, community, and venue are putting a great deal of effort and resources into making this venue a destination for off-road enthusiasts while complimenting the Deadwood community. We are dedicated to making Deadwood a high-level experience for our Champ racers, fans, and partners.”
With a little elbow grease and some patience, the Black Hills Champ Off-Road event is going to benefit from this decision by providing a world-class facility, track, and weekend experience for everyone. More importantly, Midwest short-course off-road racing is going to keep growing in the future as a result.
The 2024 season will start in Lena, Wis., May 18-19, and will crown its champions at the Big House Labor Day weekend event (August 30-31).
