offroad News

AMSOIL Championship Off-Road presented by the U.S. Air Force welcomes back familiar voices to 2023 broadcast lineup for coverage on FloRacing and the CBS Sports Network.

The rumble of off-road race vehicles paired with the roar of thousands of passionate race fans make for a summer day that one will remember for a lifetime. Analyzing the racing action for us is a broadcast team to make us all informed race fans.

Cheyne Statezny and Brent Smith will be once again carrying the race presenting duties from the broadcast booth in 2023. Trackside and pit coverage will be provided by Haley Shanley for the Pro Truck, Buggy, and Side-by-Side divisions. Series resident historian and official, Nolan Castellion, will once again serve as the Sportsman specialist reporter, providing trackside and pit coverage.

Cheyne Statezny: Commentator

Home Track: Crandon

Born and raised in Crandon, Wis., Cheyne Statezny began announcing off-road races at the young age of 17. He has attended every off-road race held at the “Big House” since his birth. The Wisconsin native called short course racing for eight seasons until 2012, where he then held different roles with drivers including marketing, shooting photo/video, and spotting. As the son of a former off-road champion and a Crandon native, he was destined to carve out his own role in the off-road world. Statezny has played an integral role on the broadcast team since the inaugural season in 2020 and currently co-hosts the Champ Off-Road Podcast presented by AMSOIL.

“I’m stoked to be back with the broadcast team for year four of AMSOIL Champ Off-Road! I truly believe every driver and every team in our series has a story to tell, and I love being able to deliver those stories alongside Nolan, Haley, and Brent. The ’23 season promises another year of history being made and legendary moments, and I can’t wait to share it with our fans around the world.”

Brent Smith: Commentator

Home Track: Bark River

Smith joined the Champ Off-Road broadcast booth in 2020 after spending several seasons calling various short course races across the United States. In addition to broadcasting, Brent was a very successful racer in his own right, compiling wins and podiums throughout his career, before hanging up his fire-suit and picking up a headset. Smith now resides in Bark River, MI, where he owns and operates a graphics business and co-hosts the Champ Off-Road Podcast Presented by AMSOIL. He made a big return to racing in 2022 at the World Championship Off-Road Races and you may seen him line up again for select races this season.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Champ Off Road broadcast team for the fourth year in a row.  I’ve been announcing for seven years it gives me so much gratification to still be living my dream and to get to be working with such a great group! Can’t wait to get in the booth with Cheyne, Haley and Nolan. The dream team! Let’s do this!”

Haley Shanley: Reporter (Pro Specialist)

Home Track: ERX Motor Park

Shanley returns for her fourth season with Champ Off-Road as the Pro Truck, Buggy and SxS trackside reporter. Shanley is an avid motorcycle rider and powersports enthusiast. Over the past decade, she has served as a TV host, race analyst and producer. She grew up just down the road from ERX Motor Park, but now resides in the great racing city of Indianapolis, IN. Shanley has covered a wide array of racing disciplines on dirt, snow, water, and ice around the globe. You may recognize her from Monster Energy AMA Supercross, Race Day Live, and AMSOIL Championship Snocross.

“The off-road community is second-to-none, which is why I’m honored to be back for my fourth season with Champ Off-Road. It’s an exciting time to be a short course fan thanks to the caliber of competition, the dedication of the venues, and the innovation of this series. They [Champ Off-Road] continue to move the needle for the sport and deliver on their promises. As if the ongoing and developing storylines couldn’t get any more compelling as we enter Round 1, the added purse money, schedule expansion to MidAmerica Outdoors, and off-season racer developments are sure to make the 2023 tour a remarkable one.”

Nolan Castellion: Reporter (Sportsman Specialist)

Home Track: Crandon

Born and raised in Crandon, Wis., Castellion lives and breathes short course racing. He joined the broadcast team in 2021 as a trackside reporter covering the Sportsman portion of the program.
