Sportsman Spotlight: Joe Maciosek #851

haley News

The driver of the #851 Ford in the Super Stock Truck class hails from Mukwonago, Wisconsin. Joe’s father, Larry, piloted the #851 before handing the wheel off to Joe in 2014, and Joe showed immediate speed, winning MORR Sportsman Rookie of the Year for 2014.

In 2015 Joe picked up a huge win in front of the massive Crandon crowd on World Championship weekend, then carried the momentum into 2016 by winning the first two races of the season before eventually finishing 4th in points. Maciosek then missed the 2017 championship by just five points after winning five races.

Joe appeared last season on the Champ Off-Road Podcast presented by AMSOIL with hosts Brent Smith and Cheyne Statezny.

Joe had a couple of down years in 2018 and 2019, winning one race in each season and finishing outside the Top 3 in points. 2020 saw a return to form for Maciosek, finishing 2nd in points – just 11 points short of the championship – before finally breaking through in 2021 and winning the Super Stock Truck championship. His title defense in 2022 was cut short by a huge crash at Crandon that caused him to miss a full round of racing. He ended up winning three races nonetheless, and will look to reclaim the Super Stock Truck title in 2023.
